New project and football commentary

Evan was caught red-handed the other day after digging around in the spice drawer that also includes mom's baking utensils.  His new project(s) around the house, and especially in the kitchen, is to find drawers that have fun items and take them out and scatter them all over.  Evan's vocab is expanding each day which now includes, "Love You" and "ball".

August has pretty much already come and gone; hard to believe.  Evan will be nearing the 1/2 way point into his 2nd year coming up next month (depending on how you count your birthday's).  We CANNOT WAIT for Husker football to begin again.  The season starts off with Western Kentucky at home Labor Day weekend; Idaho (home) and Washington (away) follow with South Dakota for Homecoming at the end of September.  The real games start in October with Big 12 play starting off with K-State.  This is the last year for the Big 12 match-ups which will be a little bittersweet for many fans.  Nebraska is headed to the Big 10 (actually has 12 teams next season, weird, I know).  The Kansas-Nebraska game is one of the longest, consecutively held games in college football.  A solid prediction is that thye will do everything they can to make it a non-conference game in the future.

Our prediction for the Huskers this year: 11-1.  Texas will be a hard fought game and that is my only loss even though the Huskers are seeking revenge.  They are favored to win the Big 12 North which will not be a problem this year.  Maybe there will be a re-match at the Big 12 Championship which is really when the win will count.  Can anyone say National Championship?  Not likely, but every fan can dream, right?

Words of wisdom from Evan

The summer heat is intense in Omaha!  Shawn was recently in Anchorage, Alaska for work and the temperature there was half of what it was in Omaha; 55 degrees compared to the heat index of 110.  Of course, the fan on the air conditioner unit outside went out on one of the hottest days, but Thermal Services was to the rescue in a matter of minutes, litterally.  Grandma Sandy made the trek from Colorado to spend time with Evan while dad traveled and to give mom a break!

Evan's progress is amazing some dates and it is hard to believe he is already 17 months old.  Crazy how time flies.  He is doing great and loving the summer, despite not being able to be outside a whole lot since it is so hot.  We picked him up from school today and one the teachers said when we left, "has he been playing outside?"  We had to explain that, no, he just runs around a lot and is a "sweater".

Here is a video we shot tonight to highlight some of his words of wisdom (and a dance move).
